The aquaponics model is a mutually beneficial system for aquaculture and hydroponic systems. The nutrients generated from the fish manure, algae, and decomposing fish feed are contaminants that would otherwise become toxic in the fish tanks; instead, they will become liquid fertilizer for the hydroponically grown plants.
